A New Year and New Flea Market

Tour de Thrift in 2015

It’s hard to believe it’s 2015 already!…but here we are. We’re excited for the upcoming year, and busy planning lots of new places to review and ideas to share with you. We’ve got some new itineraries that you’ll be able to download, print out, and use to plan your thrift and flea market shopping adventures. We’ll have some interviews with other shoppers, collectors and even some dealers. We’ll learn about favorite places to shop, favorite finds and interesting collections. The Stubborn Dutchman Flea Market signTo start the new year off we’ve got a brand new Flea Market to tell you about (it’s only been open for a few months).  We found out about it, thanks to our friends at First Floor Attic in Annville, PA. The market is called The Stubborn Dutchman and its located on route 72 heading north from Lebanon, PA.

view of vendor table with vintage hatsThis new market opened in July of 2014 and has been growing rapidly ever since. There are 44 spaces inside and room for 500 vendors outside. There was a fun Christmas extravaganza in November and they’ll be having other special events throughout the year. In August ( 8/23/15) they’ll be hosting a Walk for Breast Cancer Car Show. If you’re interested in being a vendor outside it’s only $5.00 for a space – what a bargain!

vintage jewelry for sale at the stubborn dutchman flea marketThere’s food for sale including hot dogs, homemade ice cream and waffles, nachos, soft pretzels, burgers, fresh-cut fries, popcorn, meats and cheeses, beef sticks, jerky – yum! Vendors were selling a variety of goods including Antiques, Collectibles, Primitives, Tools, Toys, Clothing, Avon and much more. The day we visited, some of the spaces were closed but the vendors who were there were eager to make deals and in general very friendly. Several vendors had some nice mid-century and vintage items – which of course is my weakness. I picked up a few things for myself and even some gifts for my family.

I love going to this Market on the weekends. Everyone is so nice and friendly, and they actually worry if they haven’t seen you in awhile. Will keep coming on the weekends and in the summer plan on setting up outside myself!
