Vintage Shopping in Lancaster, PA

Mommalicious, Scarlet Willow, Space vintage stores

We made another visit to Lancaster, PA to continue exploring the vintage shops on Queen street. Our last visit was in January when we checked out Building Character. This time we were able to visit 3 other really unique shops, Scarlet Willow, Mommalicious and Space. All three shops offer a nice variety of vintage, mid-century modern, antiques and handmade goods. This is a huge blog post packed with lots of photos and shopping details…enjoy!

If you’re a visual person (like me) walking into Mommalicious is like getting whacked up side the head (in a good way) with visual treats….it can kind of make you giddy. Every corner of the store is carefully curated into wonderful quirky vignettes. This is a store where you need to take your time in order to really take it all in. It’s tempting to just curl up in one of the comfy vintage chairs, relax and listen to the good tunes being played.

The layout is spacious and the merchandise is a nice variety of vintage, antique, handcrafted and unique giftware. There’s a large section of vintage clothing and accessories in the back corner. Pricing is varied but there are items for every budget available.

With obvious attention to detail, and pride in arranging the store, the folks who work at Mommalicious provide a fun shopping experience. They’re helpful and nice to chat with and even spend time making the cool hang tags, labels and bags, used in the store.

If you like to be inspired by clever DIY projects this store will get your brain a twirling …have a look at the entrance mosaic tile and the ceiling of the front porch, its covered with old vintage doors!

I mentioned – outloud that the shop was so comfortable and clever I could live there…and guess what? You can… sort of…above the shop is the Charming Downtown Guest House, for rent through AirBnB. It’s decorated as meticulously as the store!  Looking for a get-away with funky style, located in a cool neighborhood..this looks like the place!

A few doors down from Mommalicious, is another fun vintage store, The Scarlet Willow. This store has 2 floors of creatively curated and affordable  vintage apparel, home decor, furnishing and accessories. With some industrial and mid-century modern mixed in there’s lots to see.

And Just like their neighbor The Scarlet Willow has some very creative folks arranging the store. The back of the store is chock full of cool vintage clothing and accessories at really reasonable prices. Loved the menswear section, which was decked out with ties, bow-ties, vests. motorcycle boots, hats and more.

Be sure to head upstairs and see the nice selection of mid-century modern furniture on display. I spotted a really nice variety of vintage suite cases, a great retro slide/movie screen and projectors and several vintage lamps that were calling to me! I had to resist the lamps. Then I spotted the SALE! section in the back..woohoo! A super fun corner to pick through. Found something there I had to buy…but can’t share it with you since it’s going to be a Christmas gift. Yep, that’s right, I started shopping for the holidays…Have you?

Like the other shops on the 300 block of Queen Street, The Scarlet Willow stays open late (9:30pm) on First Fridays. If you’re in the area stop in and check out their inventory, it changes daily!

number 3 Space
A Vintage Modern shop
336 N. Queen Street
Lancaster, PA 17603  717-413-3477
Hours: Thurs. – Sat. 11am-6pm, Sun. 12pm-5pm

Space is the newest shop of the 3 we visited, they just celebrated their 1 year anniversary. They are located only a few doors away from the Scarlet Willow. Although, the store is small, it’s so thoughtfully arranged that it feels roomy enough to shop, comfortably.

With an emphasis on mid-century modern, Space provides a colorful selection of housewares, accessories, art, lighting, furniture and even clothing.

There’s some really quality pieces here, like the Broyhill Brasilia hutch we spotted and yet we found the prices to be very fair.  Space has that cool Mad Men quality, which makes you want to hang out and have a martini or two on the groovy couch in the back. Like the other 2 stores we visited, Space has a super friendly atmosphere.  Let’s face it, don’t we all want to have a good time while we’re out shopping? And it’s even better when we can bring home a hip, cool thing we found in a funky little store…right?

All 3 stores are located on the very hip 300 block of Queen Street in Lancaster, PA. You can find out more about the other merchants such as Building Character (which we wrote about in January ) on the block website or the Facebook page. You can also find some good places to eat or have a cup of coffee. We’ve been to and recommend, Commonwealth on Queen, and Square One Coffee which is just a few blocks away at 145 N. Duke Street. We really like the vibe in this downtown area, it’s walkable and there’s plenty to see. We’d like to explore more of the Lancaster area, but for vintage shopping we’ll be heading back to the 300 block of Queen Street.
