Jake’s Flea Market – Barto, PA

Jakes and perkiomenville flea markets
Over labor day weekend we were visiting family in the southeastern part of Pennsylvania. We decided to visit some of the flea markets we used to shop when we lived in the area. One of them, Jake’s flea market has changed quite a bit since we were last there, more than 10 years ago.

views at Jakes flea marketYears ago, when we lived close by, Jake’s was our go to flea market. It was pretty low-key with farmers and locals selling stuff out of their pick up trucks. It has really changed since the last time we were there. Now there are more vendor spaces in the surrounding fields, more food vendor options and new buildings with bathrooms and an ATM machine! They even have a really nice website and Facebook page. Overall it seemed much nicer, with benches to sit on placed throughout, trash cans and clearly marked vendor spaces. There are farmers market vendors selling produce and plants located at the front of the market. Inside several buildings there are antique type dealers, toys and musical instruments. There are also vendors selling under a large pavilion in case of bad weather. Jake’s has really come a long way, they now offer special event markets such as a Guitar & Music show and Vintage Toy show. Check out the website for more event info.

We were running really late during our last visit and most of the dealers were already packed up and leaving but you can see there was still some fun stuff to pick through.

We did a really quick walk around the fields, where we cam across this fantastic vintage trailer, by Q Created, she had some really cute vintage goods and everyone wanted to have a peek inside her trailer. Check out her creations and read more about her vintage trailers on her blog.
jakes-4Even though we caught the tail end of Jake’s, I did manage to come home with a few goodies, which you can see over at Second Wind Cabin, my other website. I guess it’s never really over till the last vendor leaves.

jakes-5Next visit, we’ll get there early!
