My Paper Chase: sorting through boxes of vintage ephemera

It’s snowing out again and I don’t feel like going outside. So, as part of my effort towards simplifying and de-cluttering my life, I decide to pull out several boxes of vintage and antique papers, postcards, magazines, scrap books, etc. and start the sorting process.

For years I have kept what is known to artist and designers as swipe files. Any type of printed matter that provided inspiration, or could be used in a project, I kept. The plan for months now has been to go though these boxes and really edit down my collection. Today I begin with the stacks of old vintage postcards. I’m going to share some here. Also, I will be offering some free and some to purchase and download in the Store section.  Check back often….this is going to take a while!

Postcards make me think of travel and adventure. Fun times remembering past vacations in the family station wagon. Now, I’m sitting here with 2 feet of snow and frigid below zero temps outside, daydreaming about future trips we might take.
Perhaps a flight….

Or….hitting the road for a long drive.

Wishing well from Davey's Jones Locker Steel PierI think she is wishing to go see something not quite so lame as this wishing well!
But, I guess there is something to be said for “kitchy” roadside attractions.

How about some refreshments?

World’s Best filtered coffee and steakburger! How exotic.

Finding a good place to stay …

How about this place?
Near the highway with tiled baths and steam heat!
or this place…

Tough choice – but this place might win since it has the best description….

What a great selling point, fireproof! Just like the Titanic was unsinkable!

Of course where ever you go remember to send a postcard!
