Thrifted Gifts for Christmas

Happy New Year! Hopefully, everyone had a wonderful Christmas with family and friends. We had a really fun time visiting with my brother and his family this year in Delaware. It’s so nice to be closer than a 10 hour drive!

As promised from an earlier post, I’m sharing a few of the fun thrifted gifts we gave for Christmas this year.  A somewhat new tradition for our family is to give “thrifted” or handmade gifts. So fun to see what everyone has found for each other at yard sales, flea markets or thrift stores.

We found these groovy Bongos for our nephew at a local flea market. We imagine him making some cool beats while hanging out with his art school friends.

For our niece we found a lovely vintage Ukelele at the Blue Mountain thrift store in Annville, PA. After my husband gave it a little TLC and new strings it was ready to go. We included a learn to play book. She’s an island girl so we look forward to hearing some tunes this summer.

For my sister we found a Polaroid Big Shot – just like Andy Warhol used to take his famous portraits. We’ve all been searching for a very long time to find one of these cameras. Lucky for us we come across one at our favorite local flea market (Williams Grove). It was so hard to keep this a secret from her, since we usually share our finds during visits and phone calls. The best news was that the next day she took her first photo using the camera and it worked perfectly!

One of my favorite gifts that I received this year was a framed copy of a favorite family photo from my niece. Thank You!

I hope everyone has a inspirational year ahead, thanks for reading our little blog and for sharing in our “adventures”. Today is the day for setting resolutions or intentions for the new year. I saw this posted on Facebook and thought it summed up my wish for everyone in 2014!

“This is my wish for you: peace of mind, prosperity through the year, happiness that multiplies, health for you and yours, fun around every corner, energy to chase your dreams, joy to fill your holidays!”
